About
STEPs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities and supporting their families and caregivers. Founded in the summer of 2024 by Julie Hardeman, STEPs strives to build a community where everyone is included, regardless of their abilities.
At STEPs, we work tirelessly each day to provide valuable resources, information, and guidance that inspire our community members to achieve their personal goals and dreams. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment and helping individuals on their unique journeys toward independence and success.
Our Story
Our fearless leader, Julie Hardeman, advocates for individuals with disabilities. She first found her love for supporting individuals during a sorority event, where she volunteered in a classroom for individuals with disabilities. From then on, she became a Special Education teacher for 15 years and a Parent Mentor for 10 years. Currently, Julie serves as the Chair of the Student Rehabilitation Council (SRC).
