About
STEPs is a nonprofit that empowers people with disabilities and supports their families and caregivers. Founded by Julie Hardeman in the summer of 2024, STEPs builds a community where everyone is included, regardless of ability.
At STEPs, we work daily to provide rescues, information, and guidance. We aim to inspire community members to reach their goals and dreams. We foster an inclusive environment and help individuals on their path to independence and success.
Our Story
Our fearless leader, Julie Hardeman, advocates for individuals with disabilities. She first found her love for supporting individuals during a sorority event, where she volunteered in a classroom for individuals with disabilities. From then on, she worked as a Special Education teacher for 15 years and as a Parent Mentor for 10 years. Currently, Julie serves as the Chair of the Student Rehabilitation Council (SRC).
